We made a fun summer tent! I'm so happy to be over at 4 Men 1 Lady sharing the how to today. Go on over and check it out and you'll even get to see this action shot of the pilots watching their daddy use the saw:
Their expressions were too priceless to not include the photo here. :)
I'm happy with how the tent turned out. I made it a little sturdier than the typical DIY ones you find on pinterest and I love the modern-nautical vibe it has. Can you believe that I found the fabric at Fabricland and that it's Finnish?! Fabricland is a fabric outlet here in Canada that generally doesn't have a whole lot of fabric that I actually like. The fabric is called "halkolaituri" which translates to "log dock". I love the fabric and that I found a project for it that allowed almost all of the pattern to be on display. Oh, by the way, the sign on the tent says "welcome" in Finn (a very special aunt sent it all the way from Finland - thank you!).
The boys and Nalle had great fun playing in it. Getting photos of all of them together with the tent was a tad more difficult. Co-pilot loves grass: pulling it up and putting it in his mouth. He's doing both of those things in the photos below. I hope he didn't actually eat any of it during our shoot!
So that's another fun summer project with the kiddos! The only thing missing from the tent is a set of doors. I may have to make a revision to my design. I'll be sure to let you know if and/or when I do.
Don't forget to go to 4 Men 1 Lady to find the tutorial for this DIY A-Frame Tent and checkout all the other amazingness there.
Check out another summer craft here!
What a terrific play tent. I can just tell how much your little guys love it. The fabric you found is awesome. What a great find!
ReplyDeleteThanks Katja. The tent is a lot of fun - I think even Nalle liked it. :) I was so excited to find the fabric and couldn't believe it was actually Finnish!
DeleteIt's fantastic. That has been on the TO DO list forever...... I wonder when I get to it. :) The boys look so happy in their new tent. :) I bet this is the best thing of the summer for them.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I think your girls would love a tent! It really was so easy to make.
DeleteThis is so cute. We have a couple of play tents but they are a complicated pain to put away- this looks so much easier! My guys are a little bigger so I'm going to have to adjust for size! I'm your newest Facebook follower!

Thanks Krista. The tent is pretty simple to put together and if you click through for the tutorial, I've made notes on how you could fold it if you don't want to take it totally apart. I'm so happy that you decided to follow along. Glad to have you. :)
