Through Rose Coloured Glasses & My Wedding Dress

Pink, rose, blush, nude are all appearing in decor and fashion lately.  Many of the Scandinavian/Nordic brands I love are carrying a lot of their home wares in some shade of pink.  In my home I have added a few pink accents to my workspace and have the muuto dot coat hook in the rose colour waiting to be hung in our entryway.  The entry update along with the kitchen reno are on hold while we decide how to handle our ice jam damage to our ceilings. :(  I'm hoping all will be sorted out soon since I am just itching to get something done in those spaces.  In the meantime, here are some lovely spaces with some pink accents.

I also collected a few of the pink things that I've spied over the internets to share with you...

This is not the first time I've had a fascination with pink though.  It was actually one of the colours at my wedding.  I even had my dress made with a pink ribbon around the waist and the initial "A" embroidered on the back.  Come to think of it, I believe I even had the seamstress add a little pink to the underside of the sleeve openings.  Our wedding was about 10 1/2 years ago and I'm not current on the style of weddings nowadays, but it looks like pink maybe cycling back in at least on the home decor front.  I scanned these two photos that my sister took of us with her film camera.  These were the best shots I could find of the dress that I had inside the house.  I'm afraid Tech Guy packed up our photos and stored them in the garage when he cleared the basement for the reno!  When it's warm enough I'm going to have to go and dig them out - fingers crossed that they haven't been ruined.

Maybe you'll be seeing your world home through rose coloured glasses after all this pink inspiration. :)  I'll be sure to share if and/or when I add more pink to our spaces.

    1. Thanks Cassie! I never tried on a single wedding dress - I just went straight to the seamstress and told her to make this dress. Blush is really a lovely light shade.

  3. What a gorgeous bride. Wow. Stunning. I love your dress, your hair ... everything.

I'm not usually a big pink person in home decor. It always felt too feminine for me for shared spaces. But I like that what you chose felt more like neutrals and over-done pink. I love the paler shades.

    1. I love the lighter shades too. I don't usually use a lot of pink either, but maybe since I'm in a house full of boys, I've been craving something a little more feminine. :)

  4. You are such a beautiful bride :) I love blush pink. I think it is going to be everywhere soon. I love the Nordic take on it. I have been taking a nod from the pink and blacks from the 1950's and that has been inspiring my home pallette right now. I am just doing it in a more current way. Love the inspirations Anu...especially that sofa with the pillows and blanket :) xo Kristin

  7. What a lovely dress! I remember in college I hated pink so much :). Now I like it, but I also like red and orange, so it's hard to fit all of them in!

    1. I'm glad you don't hate pink now or you would hate this post and, gasp, my wedding dress. ;) I think I go through phases where I really like pink. I tend to prefer the very light blush/nude tone of pink that is more muted.

    1. Your dress sounds so lovely and I'm super impressed that you made your own. I had wanted to sew my own dress, but I was in school at the time and didn't have the time. I did sew the flower girls' dresses and dyed some silk a light pink colour for them.
