You've already seen a little of the boys' new storage solution in my curtain post. We decided to go with the Ikea Stuva. We are so happy with it. There is a ton of storage and it fit really well in their room. I decided to go with a combination of white doors with a little black. (you can see my storage solution inspiration post here)
I hung the boys' vintage Metro Toronto Zoo print above the toy storage bench and left the Flensted Moomin mobile where it was originally above the change table. The print is a little bigger than the actual box so I left it pulled away slightly from the wardrobe units. If I end up liking it like that, I may consider adding a little filler in the gap. The striped throw cushion is from our patio and the western themed cushion was a gift the boys' received for their birthday. I still would like to add a little sconce/light to this spot to make a nice reading spot.
The boys love the toy storage box and it has helped keep some of the toys in their room. They also really love climbing in it. :)
I'm glad I went for a little black in the stuva units. It helps them tie in with all the black and white in the marimekko kivet curtains and Artek Moomin chair. The black also helps the boys know which wardrobe is theirs. :) Now, if I could just get that amber tone out of our red oak floors! We actually have our flooring guy making some samples of stains to see if we can go a bit lighter with our floors.
The other side of the room still has the same furniture layout, but the stripes on the wall are gone and I have plans to add some DIY projects/art to that side of the room. I also am on the lookout for some new bedding for the boys. So lots of small projects left.
Have a lovely weekend!

This looks fantastic. I love the little hit of black. It works so well with the curtains as you mention. Great idea to add the bench part of it. I can tell they love that :)
ReplyDeleteYes! The boys pull everything out of there and climb in that box. It's lots of fun for them! :)
DeleteLooks wonderful! I've been eyeing that storage solution for my sewing/craft/office space. Still haven't decided what to do. But this is perfect for the boys.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a great space for your office/craft room. I really like the stuva units. They work well and are pretty customizable.
Deleteoh my goodness i love it!
ReplyDeletedid you see the panda cupcakes i pinned the other day? if not you need to!
So so YOU and so so gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI could look at your photos over an over again.
Just got that black and white striped pillow yesterday.
Thanks so much Julia. The pillows one of the ones I made for our patio last year. I may have to get a replacement for the boys room before the weather warms up. :)
Deletelove the little asymmetry the black doors create on the very symmetrical cabinet. looks gorgeous! and well styled as always.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I like the little bit of asymmetry too. :)

Thanks so much Georgia!
Deletelove it---looks like a ton of storage space! We have that same globe...I picked it up at a yard sale awhile back. And our floors have that same orange-y stain, too--it seems to be have been very popular for a long time!
ReplyDeleteWe got our globe at a yard sale too. :) I love the little magnifying glass/peep hole thingy that you can look through - makes it fun for the kiddos.
DeleteIt looks amazing!!! I love the Pandamania print and that chair!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Rachel! Both boys love the chair and print. The print has a little story about pandas written on it that my older on likes me to read to him. :)
DeleteThe storage looks great! So much organization. Terrific!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful! That's the look I'm going for in my little guy's room! We just purchased a home and are moving end of June - just bought the Stuva - found cool bedding at Urban Outfitters (check'em out!) - and it's too funny cause I bought the marimekko bedding from crate & barell when it was on clearance too & they only had king size left although I needed queen - lol - still bought it cause I loved it so much. Now seeing your son's room, the bed sheet looks awesome as the curtains!! Thanks for the idea :))) Your home is lovely!!!
