A Mint and Hexagon St. Patrick's Day

The title of this post really should be:  This Post is for Misutati (Aunt Misu).  We have never really celebrated St. Patrick's day other than to try a few mint flavoured treats that come out this time of year.  My sister, on the other hand, LOVES Ireland and will be visiting during St. Patrick's Day so I thought I would decorate for her. :)

I came up with a simple hexagon garland and geometric clovers for our chalkboard wall.  I continued with the mint and hexagonish design I created for this month's calendar.  The colours are two shades of grey with mint green.  The light grey almost looks like a lavender colour in some of these photos, but it really is grey in real life.  My mint stools worked perfectly with this colour scheme too.  :)

To make my hexagon garland I simply punched out hexagon shapes with a paper punch and taped them to some baker's twine.

My abstract clovers were taped onto the chalkboard wall with washi tape and I drew a stem with a chalk marker.  It can't get any easier than that!

Overall, I think it's a subtle nod to St. Patrick's Day and it's keeping with my love for modern shapes.  The mint green is also a great colour to carry right into spring and you could totally leave this garland up past St. Patrick's Day if you wanted.

There were quite a few shots on my photo roll with this little photo bomber in them so I thought I'd include just one. :)  I think that big geometric tea towel was temptingly within reach of his little hands!

Happy crafting!
