My Sleeping Boys

Both boys asleep outside!

True to Scandinavian culture, I nap my baby outside (even in the winter).  Co-pilot takes at least one nap outdoors most days.  Usually, I take Little Pilot for a walk while Co-pilot sleeps and typically they're riding together in the Bugaboo Donkey, but, for some reason, this day both boys had their own buggies (Mummu was there to help push one of them).  The real surprise was that Little Pilot fell asleep as well and slept outside for a couple of hours!  I had to take a picture of course! :)

  1. We Americans should be taking notes. I LOVE this! Both the photo and the whole idea of it!

  2. That's great! They are breathing so much fresh air :) my mother used to do this with my younger brother almost on a daily basis (we are Russian) but I couldn't quite get the hang of it as our balcony access is a little complicated. So we either go outside & stay outside, or nap indoors. Otherwise I would do this too!

  3. My first one slept all her naps outside no matter the weather from 3weeks old until nearly 3 years of age when she outgrew her pram. I was hoping to do the same with the little one but it did not work out as the summer when she was born was very hot here in Boston. The During her first winter she did sleep outside. (Our neighbours, lovely Italian couple, babysat her when we went to see Nutcracker and when I brought her over in a pram and put her on their patio and told she would sleep most of the time and she would be fine, and that because of the babymonitor they would be able to hear the moment she wakes up. Dear Mrs F. had sat infront of the patio doors, afraid to move while her husband had searched the internet to see if it's really true that Finns/scandinavians and I see from here also Russians do this). But it's true: they sleep so much better in the fresh air, also longer hours, and it's good for them.

    1. That's too funny! Our paediatrician here is Italian and he was a little puzzled when I let him know for the first time that Little Pilot took naps outside. It's definitely not commonplace around here.

  4. Wow! Fantastic shot ~ As long as they are bundled warm and cozy ~ fresh air was historically once popular in USA for sleeping babies in carriages outside ~ ^_^

    1. They're definitely bundled. We do a lot of knitting so they both have lots of woolen layers. I agree the fresh air is really good for them.

  5. My mom used to do that with me, too! It never seemed to work with me as my boys loved sleeping right in mommies arms, but I do love the concept. Nice photo, too.
